Known best on her behalf jobs in such Mozart and Handel operas simply because, respectively, The Magic Flute and Semele, this Australian-born soprano performed at such celebrated venues simply because London’s Royal Opera Home as well as the Sydney Opera Home. After briefly learning biochemistry on the School of Sydney, she enrolled on the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and continued to teach at La Scala in Milan, Italy. She produced her professional debut within a 1975 Opera Rara concert at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. She made an appearance in her initial Royal Opera Home creation, composer Hans Werner Henze’s We Arrive to the River, in 1976. She was created and elevated in Sydney, Australia. She starred as Blanche DuBois in this year’s 2009 Opera Australia creation of composer Andre Previn’s A Streetcar Called Desire (in line with the well-known Tennessee Williams play of the same name).
