American jazz trumpet participant and cornetist remembered for his use the Camelia Brass Band as well as for his taking part in on tunes like Shake It and Break It. He started his career like a clarinetist and performed with numerous brass rings in New Orleans. His playing had not been documented until 1945, when he had been 62 years of age. His nephew is usually clarinetist Albert Nicholas. He cited Friend Bolden, who he understood personally, like a primary impact on his cornet playing.
