William Styron


The American writer of such acclaimed novels as LAY DOWN in Darkness as well as the Confessions of Nat Turner, he’s perhaps most widely known for his National Book Award-winning work, Sophie’s Choice, that was converted to an Academy Award-nominated film starring Meryl Streep. Early in his profession, he previously an editing placement with McGraw-Hill in NEW YORK. He released his first book, LAY DOWN in Darkness, when he was twenty-six years of age. He experienced a deep melancholy in 1985. The knowledge influenced his 1990 memoir, Darkness Noticeable. He was raised in Newport Information, Virginia, and later on lived in NEW YORK, where he went to both Davidson University and Duke College or university. He wedded Rose Burgunder in 1953. He had written a fictionalized accounts of the life span of Nat Turner.
