William Preston

Appreciated for his services in the American Revolutionary Battle, this Irish-born colonist was also an associate from the Virginia Home of Burgesses. In 1775, he agreed upon the Fincastle Resolutions, a Virginia record that laid the groundwork for america Declaration of Self-reliance. He emigrated from Ireland towards the Virginia colony at age nine and, before signing up for the Revolutionary Battle effort, offered in the French and Indian Battle. Prestonville, a town in north Kentucky, was called in his honor. His relationship to Susanna Smith led to twelve children, many of whom had been elevated on Smithfield Plantation (situated in what’s today the faculty city of Blacksburg, Virginia). One of is own sons, Adam Patton Preston, offered as Governor of Virginia through the early years from the Nineteenth Hundred years. He and Thomas Nelson both offered in the Virginia Home of Burgesses through the late 18th Hundred years.
