William Lederer

A twentieth-century American writer, he is most widely known for his 1958 novel, The Ugly American, which inspired the 1963 film starring Marlon Brando. His various other works consist of Ensign O’Toole and Me along with a children’s reserve entitled Timothy’s Tune. He offered as an official for the USS Tutuila, a gunboat stationed for the Yangtze River. He co-wrote The Ugly American with Eugene Burdick. He was created in NEW YORK. He wedded Ethel Hackett and afterwards wed Corinne Lewis. He and Jonas Ingram both went to the U.S. Naval Academy.
