Appreciated for his John K. Fairbank Prize-winning function The Meiji Recovery (1972) as well as for his widely-read function The Modern Background of Japan (afterwards re-titled The Rise of Contemporary Japan), this United kingdom article writer, scholar, and Japanese background expert can be popular for his teaching function in the School of London’s ASIA Studies plan. After graduating from School University London, he volunteered for the Royal Navy and examined Japanese vocabulary and history within his military project. He was inducted in to the United kingdom Academy in 1967 and became an honorary person in the Japan Academy in 1984. His relationship to Hazel Beasley started in 1955 and created a kid.
