A nineteenth-century English writer, poet, and minister, he’s most remembered for his 1879 function, Poems of Rural Existence in the Dorset Dialect. During the period of his profession, he published almost one thousand poems, including such Dorset dialect functions as The Like Child. He researched at St. John’s University, Cambridge and offered as rector at many Church of Britain parishes. He was a prominent philologist and linguistic professional. He was the kid of the Dorset farmer. He and Thomas Hardy had been literary contemporaries and close friends.
