Wilhelm Steinitz

A chess legend who was simply the first ever, undisputed Globe Chess Champ. He was raised in Prague, that was then area of the Austrian Empire. He kept the first formal World Champ of Chess name from 1886 to 1894. His family members was poor and he grew up in poverty. He dropped his World Tournament name to Emanuel Lasker in 1837.
