Nine-time PGA tour winner and an associate of the successful 1931 Ryder Cup U.S. group. He offered in the U.S. Navy aboard the battleship USS Nevada in Globe Battle II. He was known for his scorching temper and propensity to trash-talk fellow golfing pros. He was raised in the rough-and-tumble Irish-Italian component of Brooklyn, NY. He and Ed Dudley had been both golfing greats from the 1930s.
