He was institutionalized for just two a few months after hearing what he thought to be demons talking with him. He was identified as having persistent schizophrenia in 1989. He was survived by his parents, Walter and Annie Ellington Willis. He was a visitor on The Howard Stern Present and played music about the air show host.
