Villiam Figus-Bystry

Composer and instructor who have authored “Detvan,” the very first Slovak country wide opera. He was a collector of folk tracks and published several compendiums of his folk adaptations. He trained in many universities in Slovakia, including in Pilis, Ostrá Lúka, Zvolenská Slatina, and Padina. He was a founding person in the Association from the Slovak Performers and chairman. He resided his lifetime in Banská Bystrica. He went to the Franz Liszt Academy of Music where he researched with Zoltán Kodály.
