Valerie Hobson

Perhaps renowned on her behalf roles in the films Bride-to-be of Frankenstein (1935), Great Anticipations (1946), and Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949), she actually is also remembered on her behalf leading role in the initial London production from the musical The King and I. She produced her cinematic debut with an uncredited part in the 1932 feature His Lordship. Early in her profession, she distributed the big screen with acting professional Henry Hull in the Common Photos film Werewolf of London. After divorcing film maker Sir Anthony Havelock-Allan, she wedded high-ranking government recognized John Profumo. During the period of her two relationships, she experienced three sons: Simon Anthony Clerveaux Havelock-Allan, Tag Havelock-Allan, and memoirist David Profumo. Hobson’s second husband’s high-profile, politics career-ending affair with showgirl Christine Keeler influenced an Andrew Lloyd Webber theatrical creation entitled Stephen Ward the Musical. In the 2013 London Western End premiere of the musical, celebrity Joanna Driving portrayed the type predicated on Valerie Hobson.
