Dixieland jazz trumpeter who popularized the design of his hero, Louis Armstrong. Learning drum and ukelele from his uncle, he found the trumpet from a Louis Armstrong Orchestra musician and moved to LA to jam with jazz ensembles. His personal jazz band performed to crowds at nightclubs around LA for twenty-five years. He was raised in Sherman, Tx, simply north of Dallas, obtaining his formative music education from his prolonged family. He made an appearance in several movies from the 1930s, alongside Louis Armstrong in Pennies from Heaven and with Fat Waller in Ruler of Burlesque.
