Sylvia Plath

American confessional poet who’s remembered for The Colossus and Various other Poems, Ariel, and various other works. Her posthumously-published Gathered Poems gained the Pulitzer Award in 1982. She went to Smith University and received a Fulbright Scholarship or grant to keep her research at Newnham University, Cambridge. Her autobiographical book, The Bell Jar, records the descent into unhappiness that ultimately resulted in her 1963 suicide. She acquired two kids with renowned British poet Ted Hughes. She and Anne Sexton had been fellow confessional poets and good friends.
