Sylvester Graham

Ideal remembered for inventing the graham cracker, this early nineteenth-century amount led a eating crusade, convincing his supporters that vegetarianism would treat their unhealthy wishes for alcohol as well as the flesh. He specified his school of thought of life, wellness, and diet plan in his 1839 function Lectures over the Research of Human Lifestyle. Through the 1820s, he briefly went to Amherst University and continued to get his ordination being a Presbyterian minister. His “Graham diet plan” included fruit and veggies, whole wheat loaf of bread, and small portions of milk products; spicy foods and meats were not over the menu. The kid of Reverend John Graham, he was raised in Suffield, Connecticut, with almost twenty siblings. A significant “Grahamite,” business owner W.K. Kellogg co-invented cornflakes as an expansion of Graham’s teaching that whole wheat grains was a wholesome option to white bread.
