Stuart Hamblen

Gospel singer-songwriter from the 1950s who wrote the basic “It’s No Key (What God May Carry out).” A difficult drinker in his his youngsters, he swore off alcoholic beverages and devoted his existence to Christ after going to a tent revival in 1949. After his spiritual conversion, he had written the popular tracks “This Ole Home” and “START your Center” and, after religious tips from John Wayne, “It’s No Magic formula.” He was raised in Kellyville, Tx; his dad was a journeying Methodist preacher. It had been Billy Graham’s crusade in LA that converted him onto a fresh religious life, free from alcohol and gaming.
