Sixto Rodriguez

Detroit-based folk musician who released little-heard but important folk music in the 1970’s. He became even more well-known following a Oscar-winning 2012 documentary LOOKING FOR Sugars Man. He received the nickname “Sixto” because of the fact that he was the 6th child created into his family members. Without his understanding and despite low recording product sales, his music became wildly well-known and important in South Africa. His dad immigrated to america from Mexico in the 1920’s. Among his many enthusiasts can be anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko.
