Award-winning photographer known for such photojournalism tasks as Migrations, Sahel: THE FINISH of the street, and Genesis. His socially-themed documentary tasks often concentrate on the plight of employees in third-world countries. After learning economics on the School of Sao Paulo, he proved helpful for the International Espresso Organization. It had been during his world-wide moves with this company that he initial became thinking about picture taking. He received the 1993 Royal Photographic Culture medal and fellowship. He set up a photography company called Amazonas Pictures along with his wife, Lelia Wanick Salgado. He and Australian musician Ken Done both became UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors.
