Sargent Claude Johnson

African-American sculptor known for Abstract Figurative and Early Contemporary styles. He produced Chester, a family portrait of the African-American guy. He went to the California College of Great Arts and examined under sculptors Beniamino Bufano and Ralph Stackpole. He was among the initial African-American performers in California to attain a national popularity. He wedded Pearl Lawson in 1915. He and Anne Froelick had been both members from the communist party.
