Sara Mearns

Ballet performer known to be the main dancer in the brand new York Town Ballet. She was nominated for any Benois de la Dance award in 2012 as well as for a Bessie Honor in 2014. She started dance when she was three and signed up for the institution of American Ballet in 2001. She became a member of the NYC Ballet in 2003 and became primary dancer 2008. After struggling a back damage in 2012, she became an advocate for advertising injury avoidance in dance. She and Cole Haan collaborated to create ballet flats. She was raised in SC and includes a sibling who also danced. She’s performed in a number of ballets by George Balanchine.
