Samuel Paynter

A member from the Federalist Party who served as Governor of Delaware from 1824 to 1827, and is at the Delaware General Assembly. He was an associate of St. Peter’s Episcopal Chapel in Lewes, and was raised in a rich family because of his father’s business. As Governor he helped create the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal and in addition worked like a vendor. He wedded Elizabeth Rowland in 1796 plus they had six kids. He was a Governor of Delaware like John Hunn.
