An American children’s author and poet, she actually is best known on her behalf 1945 work The Carrot Seed. Her various other notable works are the Happy Egg, Someone Spilled the Sky, as well as the Cantilever Rainbow. She researched on the Parson College of Style in NEW YORK. She released her initial illustrated work, AN EXCELLENT Guy and His Great Wife, in 1944. She became a member of the Authors’ Lab at New York’s Loan company Street University of Education within the 1940s. She wedded Crockett Johnson, a fellow children’s reserve writer, in 1941. Her efforts to children’s books had been lauded by fellow writer Maurice Sendak.
