Roger Angell

Though he’s also known for his New Yorker Christmas poems as well as for his functions of fiction and literary criticism, this New York-based writer is most well-known for his sports journalism pieces. He received the 2011 Pencil/ESPN Lifetime Accomplishment Prize for Literary Sports activities Writing, among a great many other honors. After graduating from Harvard College or university, he offered in World Battle II with america Army Air Makes. The Football Writers’ Association of America honored him using its 2014 J. G. Taylor Spink Prize. His first relationship, to Evelyn Baker, led to daughters called Callie and Alice. Along with his second wife, Carol Rogge Angell, he previously a son called John Henry. His mom, Katharine Sergeant Angell Light, was the fiction editor for THE BRAND NEW Yorker, and his stepfather, E.B. Light, wrote the traditional children’s reserve Charlotte’s Internet. He was raised mainly in the caution of his dad, American Civil Liberties Union head Ernest Angell.
