Biography

U.S. Army official who commanded a Parachute Infantry Regiment from the 101st Airborne Department during World Battle II. He participated in the Normandy Invasion, parachuting onto the French beach in the first early morning of what would become D-Day. He was the motivation for a personality around the HBO mini-series Music group of Brothers. He previously two children along with his wife, Jill. Historian Stephen Ambrose explained Winters’ war-time heroics.

1After leaving the military at the end of World War II, he was called back to train soldiers for the Korean War, but refused to participate in the war itself.
2Won the Distinguished Service Cross on D-Day for leading an attack to destroy four German 105mm gun batteries pointing at Utah Beach.
3A member of the legendary Easy Company of the US Army's 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division. Jumped into Normandy as the commanding officer of Easy Company due to the absence and possible death of their former commanding officer during the drop. First entered the war as a lieutenant, and left a year later as a major. He was portrayed by 'Damian Lewis' in the starring role of the mini-series "Band of Brothers" (2001).
