Richard James McDonald

Co-founder and namesake from the McDonald’s fast-food franchise. He was created in Manchester, New Hampshire, to a family group of Irish immigrants. He and his sibling began their cafe franchise with the purpose of generating a million dollars before their 50th birthdays. He and his old sibling Maurice opened up the 1st McDonald’s cafe in San Bernardino, California, in 1940. These were of Scottish descent. He and his sibling partnered with business owner Ray Kroc in 1954. Kroc experienced a major effect on growing the restaurant right into a large franchise and became the only real owner of McDonald’s in 1961.
