Whig politician who was simply the initial Mayor of Wilmington. He was also the principle Justice from the Delaware Better Courtroom, and a U.S. Senator from Delaware from 1841 to 1845. He graduated from Princeton University in 1814 after learning rules, and was accepted to the Club in 1818. He was the next of five Bayards to serve in the Senate. His dad, Adam A Bayard, was a politician and his sibling, Adam A. Bayard, Jr. was also a politician. He was a U.S. Senator like Andrew Jackson.
