Vocalist and guitarist most widely known as the first choice from the seminal R&B group The Staple Performers. He as well as the group had been inducted in to the Stone Hall of Popularity in 1999 predicated on the recognition of strikes like “I’ll Consider You There”. He was raised the youngest of fourteen kids on the Mississippi natural cotton plantation. Like a single artist he received a Grammy for Greatest Contemporary Blues Recording for his 1994 recording “Father Dad”. He offers children called Cleotha, Mavis, Yvonne, and Pervis, most of whom sang using the Staple Performers. He sang the track “CLASSIC Footwear” alongside Willie Nelson in the 1997 film “Wag your dog”.
