Irish figurative painter known for his landscapes, portraits, and paintings of trees. He belonged to the Envoy arts critique and McDaid’s pub group that also included Patrick Kavanagh, Anthony Cronin, and Brendan Behan. He went to the National University of Artwork through the 1940s and shown his artwork for the very first time on the 1950 Irish Exhibition of Living Artwork. He co-founded and edited the literary publication, X Newspaper. He wedded Oonagh Ryan, who was simply the sister of musician John Ryan. His X Newspaper once featured articles on Alberto Giacometti.
