Hong Kong-born Canadian New Democratic Party politician. She offered as an associate of Parliament from 2006-2014 and in addition held workplace as Toronto Town Councillor. She went to both the College or university of Toronto as well as the Ontario University of Artwork before graduating using a level in art through the College or university of Guelph. Between 2004 and 2013, she was identified as having both thyroid tumor and Ramsay Hunt symptoms. At age thirteen, she shifted with her family members from Hong Kong to Canada. She wed fellow politician Jack port Layton in 1988; Layton passed on in 2011. She was backed in her 2014 Toronto mayoral advertising campaign by Indian-born filmmaker Deepa Mehta.
