Norman Shumway


Pioneer of center transplant surgery who also refined an operation to stop your body from rejecting the transplant. After becoming drafted in to the military, he studied executive, though later turned to medication at Vanderbilt University or college. His first effective center transplant, performed in Stanford on the South African doctor, became the world’s 1st effective transplant and opened up many options for long term doctors. One of is own children along with his previous wife, Mary Lou Stuurmans, continued to direct center and lung transplantations in the University or college of Minnesota. The South African Christiaan Barnard produced the first center transplant ever performed in 1953.
