Was always a Laker fan favorite, but he and Earvin "Magic" Johnson reportedly never got along. Their strife, however, didn't keep the Lakers from two NBA titles in 1979-1980 and 1981-1982 with the two forming one of the most potent guard tandems in NBA history. The conflict apparently reached a boiling point after the 1982-1983 season, when the Lakers traded Nixon to the cross-town Los Angeles Clippers for a first-round draft pick, which became Byron Scott. Laker fans expressed their discontent with the trade by roundly booing Scott for most of his early years with the team.
He is an L.A. Lakers star.
