5-period MLB All-Star initial baseman referred to as “Stormin’ Norman” who earned the American League batting title using the Detroit Tigers in 1961. He was drafted with the NFL’s Chicago Bears being a working back before selecting to try out professional football. He was the initial player going to a ball out of Tiger Stadium in 1961. He wedded his senior high school sweetheart Myrta in 1954. He performed alongside Hall of Popularity correct fielder Al Kaline over the Tigers for 15 years.
