He won the silver medal within the synchronized 3 meter springboard on the 2004 Athens Olympics, becoming the very first Greek to gain a silver medal in diving. He initial competed on the 2000 Sydney Olympics where he emerged in 36th place. He and his diving partner, Thomas Bimis, gained the precious metal in 2004 following the China, Russia, and USA teams all amazingly flopped. His family members was surviving in Athens when he was created. He and gymnast Carly Patterson both gained distinction on the 2004 Olympics because of their respective countries.
