He started publishing poetry through the past due 1960s. He worked well as a specialist puppeteer and magician. He wedded Gaynor Doherty in 1984. He and Doherty later on became parents to a boy and a girl. His work, like this of fellow English writer Adrian Henri, spans both poetic and musical styles.
