Nicholas Clay


Most widely known for performing Lancelot in Excalibur as well as for his part of Alan in The Picture of Dorian Grey. He started his acting profession in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Artwork which resulted in several theater shows including a job on Broadway. He offers made an appearance in two Sherlock Holmes adaptations, The Hound from the Baskervilles and an bout of The Journeys of Sherlock Holmes. He and his wife, Lorna Heilbron, got two daughters from the titles of Ella and Madge. He previously a component in the 1978 theatre series Will Shakespeare, which starred Tim Curry in the name part.

He was considerably less known as an actor compared to the two preferred choices, Oliver Reed and Ian McShane. His role in Excalibur (1981) around this same time however helped bolster his profile as an actor.
5 He was survived by his mother, Rose Clay.
6 A scene was deleted from Excalibur (1981) featuring him as Lancelot rescuing Guinevere (Cherie Lunghi) from a forest bandit. The scene appeared in the film's theatrical trailer.
7 John Boorman never refers to Clay by name on his commentary track for Excalibur (1981).
8 Is probably best remembered as Sir Lancelot in John Boorman's 1981 King Arthur film Excalibur (1981).
