Muammar Gaddafi

Ruthless Libyan president for a lot more than 40 years who seized power from King Idris inside a bloodless coup in 1969, when he was just 27. He was beaten and wiped out by NTC rebels following a civil battle broke out in 2011. He went to the Royal Armed service Academy in Benghazi and was just a lieutenant at that time he seized power. He travelled along with his all-female Amazonian Safeguard who were generally known as “the Green Nuns” due to the color of the uniforms as well as the rumor that that they had been sworn to celibacy. He wedded double, and his second relationship was to Safia Farkash from 1970 to 2011. His loss of life was fulfilled with divided reactions from different world market leaders. Some, like Chief executive Barack Obama, noticed it like a step of progress for Libya. Others, such as for example Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, rather praised the past due leader.

1In a quite eerie coincidence, the year of his death had been predicted by a 1980s sitcom Second Chance (1987). The pilot episode of the show which aired in 1987 featured the ex-Libyan leader as one of the people showing up in Saint Peter's Office on July 29, 2011 to be judged whether he will go to hell or heaven.
2His son Saadi was a professional football player in Italy for a while.
3His eldest son, Saif al-Islam, was expected to be Libya's next president.
4Wrote "The Green Book".
5Libya's dictator from 1969 to 2011.
6Was once (as a child) publicly slapped by one of his teachers. Many say that this is the source of his resentment for academics, apparent in many of his speeches and essays.
7Overthrew the monarchy of Libya in the so-called "Green Revolution" in 1969, establishing a socialist Arab state under his leadership.
