#Fact
1Miguel Ferrer has a third son, Jose Robert Ferrer, born (2004) with Kate Dornan.
2He and Guillaume Depardieu are both the sons of Oscar-nominated actors (José Ferrer and Gérard Depardieu) who have played Cyrano de Bergerac. Both have also played younger versions of one of their father's characters: Miguel on Magnum P.I., and Guillaume in Les Miserables and The Count of Monte Cristo. They were also both close friends of an actor who played The Crow: Brandon Lee and Vincent Perez.
3The Monuments Men (2014), featuring his cousin George Clooney and uncle Nick Clooney, opened on his 59th birthday.
4He is very close to his cousin George Clooney.
5Has appeared in RoboCop (1987) alongside fellow Star Trek veterans Peter Weller, Ronny Cox and Kurtwood Smith.
6Has played the DC comics supervillain, the Weather Wizard, in both animated form (Superman (1996)) and live-action (Justice League of America (1997)). However, the character was referred to as the Weatherman in the latter production.
7In 1954, the year before he was born, his parents appeared in the year's two most successful films. Rosemary Clooney was in the top moneymaker that year White Christmas (1954), while José Ferrer appeared in the second-highest-grossing film The Caine Mutiny (1954).
8Made a guest appearance on an episode of the sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun (1996). Series regular Joseph Gordon-Levitt is the grandson of director Michael Gordon, who directed his father José Ferrer in his Oscar-winning role as Cyrano de Bergerac (1950).
9Made his first film appearance in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984), which was directed by Spock himself, Leonard Nimoy. He subsequently directed an episode of Crossing Jordan (2001) that featured a guest appearance by subsequent Spock Zachary Quinto.
10Is longtime friends with Carrie Fisher who he encouraged and helped prepare for her Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) audition. Both of their mothers (Debbie Reynolds and Rosemary Clooney) were also best known for their performances in hit musicals: Singin' in the Rain (1952) and White Christmas (1954).
11Two members of his family have set records for memorable firsts among Hispanics. His father José Ferrer was the first Hispanic actor to win an Oscar, for Cyrano de Bergerac (1950). His cousin, Carlos Campo, son of his aunt Betty Clooney, is the first Hispanic President of Regent University.
12Was good friends with Brandon Lee and served as a pallbearer at his funeral in 1993.
13Originally pursued a career as a musician. After seeing Little Ricky plays the drums on I Love Lucy (1951), he decided he wanted to learn to play the drums. His father, José Ferrer, who was already an accomplished pianist, encouraged him in this. He would later use this talent when traveling on tour with his mother Rosemary Clooney and Bing Crosby. It was not until Crosby's death that he decided to pursue acting. His career later came full circle when he worked with Denise Crosby on Crossing Jordan (2001).
14Collects vintage comic books; Batman was always his hero.
15Is a huge fan of author Stephen King, and has appeared in three adaptations of his work: The Night Flier (1997), The Shining (1997) and The Stand (1994). Appropriately, King has made numerous references in his work to The Caine Mutiny (1954), which starred his father José Ferrer.
16His father was Puerto Rican. His mother had English, German and Irish ancestry.
17Nephew of Nick Clooney and Betty Clooney. Half-nephew of Gail Stone.
18He and his cousin George Clooney have both appeared in remakes of films that starred Frank Sinatra. Ferrer had a supporting role in The Manchurian Candidate (2004), while Clooney took over Sinatra's role in the Ocean's Eleven (2001) trilogy. He has also parodied George's role on Robot Chicken (2005).
19His musical credits including playing drums on Keith Moon's 1975 album "Two Sides of the Moon".
20At the 41st Grammy Awards, he was nominated for Best Spoken Word Album for Children in Disney's The Lion King II: Simba's Pride Read-Along (1999).
21Was close friends with actress Dominique Dunne and served as a pallbearer at her funeral.
22Formerly played drums and sang in the Los Angeles band "The Jenerators" with actor and co-founder Bill Mumy.
23Brother-in-law of Debby Boone. Ex-brother-law of Meilani Paul and Adrian Paul.
24Studied acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse.
25Cousin of George Clooney, Cathi Campo and Carlos Campo.
26Has two sons with his ex-wife Leilani Sarelle: Lucas (born 1993) and Rafael (born 1996).
27Is the oldest of five children of José Ferrer and Rosemary Clooney. Miguel, was born in 1955. He was followed by Maria, 1956; Gabriel Ferrer, 1957; Monsita Ferrer, 1958; Rafael Ferrer, 1960.
28Is a voice-over actor.

#Quote
1(1999) My favorite place in the whole world is Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The whole experience in Wyoming is just fantastic. It's renewing. In the winter we'll go skiing, and during the summer there's golf, there's Yellowstone, there's just whatever. It's the best place in the world.
2(On his acting preparation) I'm not really a guy who draws on things from my own past. I think if you're a competent actor with a good imagination, and if it's on the page, it makes your job a lot easier. If it's well written, it allows your imagination to run wild and draw inspiration from that. I'm not one of those people who writes a biography or tries to figure out what kind of ice cream the character liked when he was 10. If your attention is on something like that, I just think it's a bit of a wank. If your attention is on superfluous aspects that are not part of the story, then you can't be concentrating on the human realities of the piece.
3(On making RoboCop (1987)) RoboCop was maybe the best summer of my entire life. It was the summer of 1986, and it was the best part I'd been asked to do at the time, and working with an amazing director, Paul Verhoeven. The writer Edward Neumeier and I became great friends, and he gave me just so much to work with. I woke up every day and when I was looking at myself in the mirror shaving, I just couldn't believe my good fortune. I was the happiest guy probably in the state during that time. To tell you the truth, while we were doing it, I had no idea that it wouldn't be silly. I had no idea if it was going to be a good movie or a bad movie, or what it was going to be. I knew that it was great fun to make, but while you're in the middle of these things, you just don't know how it's going to turn out. It has to pass through so many hands-editing, the music, the sound design, how it's marketed, and all the rest of it. You just don't know. And sometimes the RoboCop suit itself looked absolutely laughable. And they struggled to find angles in which it didn't look silly, so to tell you the truth, at the time, many of us, myself especially, had no idea if it was going to be any good. Then I saw a screening of the finished product before it came out and I knew it was a really wonderful, different kind of picture, with sophisticated humor and yet good action and compelling characters and something that was really special. I remember the first time sitting in the movie theater and watching a trailer, and the audience absolutely laughed at it in the worst way possible. Which was, to say the least, disheartening. Then, I remember the first night the movie came out and I think I drove around to every theater in Los Angeles in which it was playing and kind of stood in the back and watched the reaction, and that was one of the great thrills of my life.
4(On making Crossing Jordan (2001)) It was great. I loved that. Six years on the same show, working on the same lot. Got to go home and see my kids every night. They weren't always awake, but I saw them. I loved that there were no out-of-control egos on the set. I loved working with the same people for six years. You develop a sure hand, and you learn how one works and likes to work. I wouldn't trade it for anything. We had a ball.
