Biography

Retired Grand Prix motorbike racer widely regarded as one of the better riders of his generation. He’s a five-time champion from the 500 cc Globe Championships, with all five game titles to arrive consecutive years. He was created in Gold Coastline, Queensland and got his begin race Australian Superbikes within the 80’s. He’s one of an extremely few 500 cc champions to also have received a Superbike Globe Championship competition. He wedded Selina Sines in March 2006. He and Giacomo Agostini will be the 1st two riders ever to earn five consecutive 500 cc Globe Championships.

1Currently maintaining an involvement in GP racing as General Manager of Racing for Honda Racing Corporation.
2Was considered to be part of the "Golden Era" of motorcycling racing, the late 80s and the early 90s which included Eddie Lawson, Wayne Gardner, Kevin Schwantz, and Wanye Rainey all of them had great skills which made for some vary memorable moments
3After the 1992 crash which almost cost him his life he had his right leg surgically attached to his left leg (which he was in danger of losing) to increase blood flow to speed up recovery
4In 1992 he crashed and broke his right leg and missed four races while recovering from the injury. Left with a restricted range of movement his team created a hand-operated rear braking system to his Rothmans Honda so he could continue racing.
5Began riding motorcycles at the age of nine
6Was considered to be part of the "Golden Era" of motorcycling racing, the late 80s and the early 90s.
7In 1999 he suffered a broken right leg, shoulder, and left wrist, when he crashed his Repsol Honda at 200+km/h at Jerez, Spain. He was immediately brought to the U.S. after the accident for corrective surgery which included inserting two plates and 12 screws in his right leg, and a plate in his left forearm. Toward the end of the year he announced his retirement due to injuries from his crash
