After finishing the 2013 Globe Junior Number Skating Championships in fifth place, Martinez displayed his native Philippines in the 2014 Winter season Olympics in Sochi, Russia. He produced his International Skating Union debut in the 2010 to 2011 Junior Grand Prix. 3 years later on, he certified for the Olympics after completing seventh in the 2013 Nebelhorn Trophy event. In 2014, he kept the distinction to be the just Filipino to compete in the Olympics. He and his two old siblings were elevated in Paranaque and Muntinlupa, Philippines. Japanese number skater Yuzuru Hanyu received a precious metal medal in the same 2014 Olympics event where Martinez completed nineteenth.
