Mercy Otis Warren

An American Revolutionary-era writer of history, propaganda, and politics satire, she actually is best known on her behalf multi-volume work, History of the Rise, Progress, and Termination from the American Trend (1805). This is the first traditional account from the American Trend to be compiled by a female. She received no formal education, but examined informally using a teacher who worked on her behalf brothers. From her early adulthood, she transferred in influential circles; her close friends included John Hancock, Martha and George Washington, Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry, and Thomas Jefferson. She authored a 1788 pamphlet beneath the pseudonym of “A Columbian Patriot.” Within this pamphlet, she needed the inclusion from the Costs of Privileges in the Constitution. She was the 3rd of thirteen kids blessed to Colonel Adam Otis and Mary Allyne Otis. She wedded Adam Warren in 1754; the few eventually became parents to five sons. She and her hubby were good friends of Abigail and John Adams.
