Biography

Versatile writer who was simply also known for his poetry and essays. He earned the Nobel Reward in Books in 1911. His 1st play, Princess Maleine, garnered great acclaim and from thereon out he created his symbolic design, focusing on styles concerning fatalism and mysticism. His 1906 play, The Cleverness of Blossoms, preceded an artistically dried out period, seen as a writer’s stop and melancholy. His dad, Polydore, and his mom, Mathilde, had been both rich. He is at a romantic relationship with singer-actress Georgette Leblanc for quite some time, where she became his main muse. He was employed by Samuel Goldwyn to build up concepts for film, non-e of which found fruition.

1 Samuel Goldwyn once commissioned him to write a screenplay on anything he pleased. He chose to adapt his bestselling entomological work, "The Life of a Bee." After reading a few pages of Maeterlinck's screenplay, a thoroughly dismissed Goldwyn burst out of his office yelling "My God, the hero is a bee!"
2 Discussed by name in the film Without Reservations by the character played by Claudette Colbert.
3 Was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1911.
