For his part as Hiroki Kikuchi in the 2012 Japanese teen movie The Kirishima Thing, Higashide earned a Mainichi Film Award; a Japan Academy Reward; a Kinema Junpo honor; and an Elan d’Or Honor. He continued to surface in several other movies and tv series, including EVERYTHING Began AFTER I Met You and Gochisosan. His early tv credits include tasks in Renai Kentei and Amazing Single Existence. He starred as Kaburagi Kazeo in the 2014 actions film Crows Explode. In early 2015, he wedded fellow Japan entertainer Anne Watanabe and became the son-in-law of acclaimed display acting professional Ken Watanabe. He and Eri Fukatsu had been both in the solid from the 2014 technology fiction film Parasyte: Component 1.
