Mary Wigman

German pioneer of contemporary dance whose profession led to the introduction of expressionist dance and dance therapy. Her design has thought to have been extremely existential and offered being a catharsis on her behalf internal challenges. She opened up her expressionist college of dance– known as both Dresden Central College as well as the Mary Wigman-Schule– in 1920. She was an early on advocate of dance schooling without pointe sneakers, and she was also acknowledged among the initial dancer/choreographers to infuse her use philosophical and existential designs. She was created in Hanover, Germany, and she passed away in Western world Berlin. She and American dancer/choreographer, Isadora Duncan, had been both pioneers of contemporary dance.
