Mary Oppen

Leftist politics activist who indicated her sights through painting, collage, and poetry. She and her spouse fled to Mexico when the American authorities suspected their Communist sympathies. She released her memoir, “Indicating a Existence: An Autobiography,” in 1978. Her spouse, George Oppen, was also an designer, and both resided an itinerant existence collectively. He and Claude McKay had been both poets allied using the American Communist Party.
