Mary Mapes Dodge

An American children’s writer and editor, she actually is most well-known for Hans Brinker, or the Sterling silver Skates (1865), a novel that displays a portrait of early nineteenth-century Dutch life. During her youthful years, she received education from personal tutors. She afterwards collaborated with her dad in the publication of america Journal. She and Harriet Beecher Stowe co-edited Hearth and House, a favorite periodical. She wedded attorney William Dodge in 1851. Eight years afterwards, due to economic woes, Dodge still left the family members and was afterwards found useless. She was the editor of St. Nicholas Mag, which solicited tales from Tag Twain .
