Mario Merz

Italian sculptor and painter from the Arte Povera movement. His initial one-man exhibition happened in 1954 at Turin’s Galleria La Bussola. He was imprisoned during Globe Battle II for his participation using the anti-Fascist group Giustizia e Libert√†. It had been at this time that he began drawing to move enough time and tinkering with the constant graphic heart stroke. He was the main topic of a 2002 film directed by United kingdom musician, Tacita Dean. He fulfilled his musician wife Marisa while he was learning in Turin through the 1950s. He was inspired by the task of poet Ezra Pound.
