Maria Susanna Cummins

An American author of romance novels and youthful women’s fiction, she actually is particularly known for The Lamplighter, a bestselling 1854 novel. Her additional works consist of Haunted Hearts, Around Mull, and Mabel Vaughan. She analyzed at Mrs. Charles Sedgwick’s Small Ladies’ College in Lenox, Massachusetts. Her popular book, The Lamplighter, offered 70,000 copies in the entire year after its publication. She was the Massachusetts-born child of David Cummins and Maria F. Kittredge. She and Samuel McIntire had been both from Salem, Massachusetts.
