Maria De la Cruz

Chilean politician and women’s suffragist who, in 1953, became the very first girl to serve over the Chilean Senate. She released a novel along with a poetry collection when she is at her early thirties, and she also became a favorite journalist and radio web host. She gained her Senate chair by the biggest margin recorded until that time. Nevertheless, just half a year after getting sworn in, she was accused to be in an Argentinian view smuggling string and was taken off the Senate regardless of the utter insufficient proof against her. She was created in Chimbarongo, Chile to Edicia Toledo and Marco Aurelio de la Cruz. After her politics failures she became a member of the empty-pots motion in opposition of Salvador Allende. She backed applicant Jorge Alessandri within the 1958 Chilean presidential election.
