Margie Singleton

Country musician who was simply well-known in the 1960s and who sang duets with nation music singers like George Jones and Faron Teen. She and George Jones documented ‘Keeping Up With The Joneses.’ She was raised hearing blues and gospel music and began writing music and playing electric guitar when she was an adolescent. She proved helpful at a munitions place through the Korean Battle. She produced her debut on the favorite stage present, Grand Ole Opry, in 1963. She wedded Shelby Singleton when she was thirteen years of age and acquired her first kid, Stephen, in 1950 before obtaining a divorce and obtaining remarried to Leon Ashley in 1965. She documented a cover of Bobbie Gentry’s melody, “Ode to Billie Joe,” in 1967.
