Notable on her behalf Carnegie Medal-winning youthful mature books The Changeover as well as the Haunting, Mahy also penned the traditional and widely-translated works THE PERSON Whose Mom was a Pirate and A Lion in the Meadow. After their studies at both Auckland College or university University and Canterbury College or university College, she educated being a librarian and was ultimately employed as the Canterbury Open public Library’s mind Children’s Librarian. Her many literary honors are the 2006 Hans Christian Andersen Award; the 2003 New Zealand Post Children’s Reserve Award; as well as the 2005 Phoenix Prize.
